The Scamp

Nothing too strange today. Coffee, the web, play with the little one, eat some food, vaccuum,go to the store, run, eat, watch a show about gigantic teenagers. One boy is 13 and is over 8ft! They moved to a new house and had doorways made for him that he could clear. His finger joints are extra large and he cannot close his fingers all the way. And with all he has going against him, including a serious threat to his life, he's one of the most positive, honest, and nicest people in the world it seems. Funny how that works.

Friday was Beezer's birthday. He leads us every year into the ages as the first one to put on the new digits. 40 is next. Yikes. I'm second up in couple of weeks. For some reason, I still think I'm 36. It's a momentary mental item I have to move aside. haha Anyway, he sent me this pic recently. We went out to the USS Alabama sometime ago and this kid just popped out of nowhere. Beeze took his pic and he gave us a look. Man we laughed our asses off at that. When I see it now tho, I think "where is this kid now and what's he doing?" I want that VH1 show "What they're doing now" to pop on. Where ever you are Scamp, I hope life is treating you well sir!

Sludgeee

Have you seen her over there? At the back of the lake where the turtles and beavers fight?
She's this luscious pile of sludge glistening
like no other.

She even smells nice.
Just dive into her with your mouth open and let her
coat you
from the inside and out.
Oh yah I did it. Felt good too.
I still have her inside me.

Chafed skin and bulgogi

There I am standing at the top of the stairs with just a shirt on and a 3x3 inch gauze bandage in my hand. In a slow deliberate voice I say, "what did you say?" Because I really don't like yelling across the house even tho I do it more often than I should. My wife says, "Stella is coming over to get the heater for her hedgehog cuz the poor thing is freezing!" I simply say "so you want me to stay like this?" My daughter then asks where I'm going!!!

I've been reading 'Born To Run' which is just giving me endless amounts of inspiration to run like I never have. Which is nuts cuz I've never liked running, but that's a whole nuther story. There was a small portion in the book that talked about a girl that worked in the Idaho forest all by herself. Every morning she would get up and put on only sneakers and run till her lungs burned and then turn around and come back. I'm wondering just how 'free' that might really feel. I recalled a girl from college named Penny who was very much into LSD at the time. She invited me to go tripping in the woods. She said we could go run naked. All I could think of were bugs biting my privates and getting a stray branch snagged on me as I swayed thru the thicket! hahaha So yah I never went on that trip. But maybe I missed out? Maybe running naked would be cool. Is there a naked marathon? Let me check. Pfft You know it!

So today I was on the treadmill, and I wore just boxers n shoes. I ran for just a little over an hour and got some mild chafing which is why I was standing on the top of stairs kinda miffed. I was hot, hungry, and I couldn't find any ace bandages or tape. Many simple lessons learned this evening there have been.

Finally, I went to get some food from the Korean grill. Bulgogi is just soo tasty to me right now. I love this little place that I finally went to over Xmas with my folks. There's not a lot of ethnic food here in Omaha, so it's pretty nice. The food tastes unlike the usual fare, meaning pretty good. It was near closing and the owner is so nice, she just loaded me up with stuff. I tried this purple cabbage salad today and it was ok, but the cucumber salad is still much better. I didn't have to the courage to try the seaweed today. I can only take so much salt :)

Finding peace

I am all about the Australian Open right now. I 've been staying up to the wee hours of the morning watching match after match and it's good stuff! Tonight's match with Sareena Williams was pretty amazing on a number of levels.

Sareena is a tennis juggernaut right now, and tonight she nearly destroyed herself. We are in fact our own greatest enemies no? I seriously had written her off after being down 4-0 in the second set. Secretly, I think I wanted her to lose. But she eventually fought her way back and won the match. Usually other players will drop their game giving them a break, but not tonight. She had to really get her Zen on and that's what I really love seeing in tennis these days. Big strokes, long rallies, and 130mph aces are cool, but seeing a player find peace in the middle of mental hell is just awe inspiring. I have a new respect for Sareena. Turns out she's quite the fighter being no stranger to first set loss's only to recover and win.

Here's a pic from Mark Dadswell/Getty Images showing her intensity

On another note I found today that my primary credit card was hacked. Dang man! I take a lot of care to make sure that kind of info is kept solid, but just goes to show how the system breaks down sometimes. Luckily I don't have to pay anything, but it still kinda messes with your head some.

The First Post

I've been contemplating doing a blog for some time. After some recent events and perhaps some inspiration from an old friend, here I am. It's funny how you can sit at the computer and laugh to yourself about items like the blog title, web addy, or even password. Yeeaahh, you never know who might read this, so there's a lot of things that maybe shouldn't be titled or said. Then again, maybe I'm the only one who would get it.

I'm still not sure if this will be a place to express random or meaningful slices of my life, or venture more into an outlet for creative seeds in me that have no place to really stick to. It'll prolly be both and hopefully more strange then boring.
