Wakey Wakey
Me up at 6:30AM?!! Yah that doesn't happen too often. I have electricians visiting me this morning, so I guess I have to let them in. Turns out tho, this getting up early is probably going to be a new scheduling for me in the next months to accommodate selling of the home.
So I thought I'd sit here in the warm glow of the sun and sip my morning coffee. Everything is still and quiet for now. I have a 'crap-ton' to do today, and I don't even want to think about it all at once.

Purge
You ever see the show Hoarders? I've only seen a few and it's pretty crazy. I think most people tend to keep things they really don't need or use, but when you can't walk in your house? It's a fascinating extreme to watch these people who just don't throw anything away. Some of it is just amazingly disgusting.
Liz has decided to have a garage sale. So we are purging everything in the house we don't use or need. Why in the name of Bruce Willis do we have like 20 coats in the house we don't wear or need?!!! I tell you though, it feels good to get rid of all this stuff. Oh George Carlin, I can still hear your bit about house ownership, and it makes me smile.
Anyway, the house is an absolute disaster. It makes my ocd self tremble at every corner. I just can't wait to get it all out of my sight!

Bloodtests
So I had some blood drawn last week to see what my cholesterol levels were at. Liz suggested I do this since I'm getting so old. Pffft.
LDL -100
HDL -24
If your LDL is under 130, then that's pretty good, so 100 is fine. HDL ( the good one) should be at 40 to 60 though for normal men. I'm kinda shocked that my cholesterol was not totally just kick ass. If you read all the things that one should do to increase your HDL levels, I've been doing a lot of it for more than a year. Am I genetically similar to Vincent Freeman!! Do I need to step up to Fish Oil pills 3x a day?!! We shall see.

Kwisatz Haderach
I've actually never seen that word in the title spelled out before. My initial spelling of it on google gave me zilch! Some of you who read this won't have the immediate mental connection of what it means. It's a term from the movie Dune. I caught the last half of it on IFC last night and it's still a great movie for me. The ghostly theme music by Brian Eno when they're in the desert is still fantastic.
I know many fans of the books poopoo on Lynch's movie, but I think it's 'out of the box' style still works today. However, reading on wiki some of the background info, perhaps I'm actually ready to read some of his books? Here's a snippet on the Kwisatz Haderach.
In the series, the matriarchal Bene Gesserit hope to create a male who can survive the deadly ritual spice agony that changes a capable female acolyte into a Reverend Mother. A female Bene Gesserit is limited:
She ... was confronted immediately with a cellular core, a pit of blackness from which she recoiled. That is the place where we cannot look, she thought. There is the place the Reverend Mothers are so reluctant to mention — the place where only a Kwisatz Haderach may look.[1]
The Sisterhood theorize that such a male would possess absolute prescience, seeing all possible futures thus being able to cause select threads of time to be realized through manipulation. The Bene Gesserit intend to use their Kwisatz Haderach to make their order more powerful than the other factions within the Old Empire.
In the texts, Herbert also refers to the Kwisatz Haderach as "the one who can be many places at once."Those crazy Bene Gesserit's were some slick mama's I tell ya. Love the Reverand Mother too. This action figure is just funny though.

Migrations
Holy Cannoli! I rode my bike today! I didn't plan on it, but since Liz decided to go fishing, I thought why not. The lake we went to has a 3 mile path around it, with some decent hills too I might add. The lake is still mostly frozen. I don't think Liz got a single bite today, but the fact that you could stand outside in a light jacket and feel warm was fantastic.
We weren't the only ones that decided to emerge from the icy slumber. I've never seen so many people out with their dogs. I don't think they cared for me zipping around them. I need a bell methinks. No matter how loud I yell, I still manage to scare some folks. So many birds in the water too. The Canadian geese were having an massive party on this one section of ice. It's great to see nature just in the first moments of waking up all around.
Earlier this week, there must have been 1000s of geese flying through here. I can remember being with Asa and Finley at a frozen lake last year when I overheard geese above me. I was in awe of the massive never ending squadrons that were flying overhead. They just did not end.
This time I was home and saw them from my deck off in the distance. Throughout the day I would see more and more flying by. It's really cool to watch just one bird in the echelon, and how he slowly shifts around in position as they move. It's almost as if the birds are gliding along some invisible magnetic current.
I went on my balcony and grabbed the 200mm. With the grey sky I thought meh. So it was a couple days later when I uploaded the pic. But if you look at it full size, you then see all the other strings of birds in the background (which I couldn't make out with my naked eye at the time). That was just a small section of sky too.
The hospital you see in the pic has also been the source for some much heated debate in the ongoing health care discussions at Capital Hill. Kinda crazy.

Pregnant
So who wants to get pregnant!!!
That is something that would be fun to say through a bull horn, followed by the theme for Dixie!
My 31,000+ hour old little one likes to draw these little bean people. She's added appendages and even hair over the last few months. Although I think she's been looking at my old Devo albums for inspiration.
Anyway, one of Liz's co workers is preggo and the explanation came out that a baby was in her belly. Naturally, Asa decided to draw it. I think that one on the bottom left is definitely a candidate for a section.

Eww that stinks!
Did you miss me?
Did you know I like to throw blenders at my feet after I run 10Ks? The intense pain of having a ring imprinted on my arch helps give a tasty dose of endorphins.
Do you know who Tyler Durden is? I hung out with him, and we did the whole lye on the back of the hand this weekend. Feekin lovin every minute of it. (ok it was the oven)
Do you like vinegar? I love it! Sometimes I take the following:
Fake Veggy Sausage
Green and white onions
A buncha cloves of garlic
corn
half yellow pepper
bunch of fresh mushrooms
then I cook it all in a bunch of vinegar and cornstarch. Oh add a couple of bay leaves for taste and plenty of salt and pepper. No one else in the house eats this! hahahahaha

2nd Looks
I probably looked at this picture just once or twice after I took it, thinking 'meh'. Taken back in Feb of 2003. Hmmm 7 years ago...think about what you were doing 7 years ago for sec.
Anyway, this pic stands out to me now. This type of pic is a good example of the ease of perspective change you can find with a swivel lcd rather than looking through a viewfinder. I'm always fascinated how some pics are much more interesting years later.

'Home' by The Engineers
Home
Is this my home
Been starting over
Bathe in the water

Time after time
I'm feeling so sorry
I run out of things to say
Relieved
I'm so relieved
The tables are turning
Don't sacrifice this feeling
Goals
There are no goals
There is no order
Paid for in laughter

Las Vegas
Saturday night was a simply tasty evening. Asa stayed home with the babysitter. Liz and I went to Walgreens! lol well we did. We really went out to eat at a place called Kona Grill. It's an asian fusion eatery. Like PF Chang meets Cheesecake Factory or something. Sometimes I think there's prolly just one parent company churnin these places out anyway.
Heres a review of the place that shows some pics of the food and what the inside looks like.
FOOOOD
We ate a Las Vegas Roll which was kinda like your basic cali roll but with more crab, and it had an outer layer of fried tempura. All of it was laying in an eel sauce with small stringy onions on it and seasemeeez. Next up was a Rainbow Roll. Again like a cali roll with crab, but with few diff types of fish cuts draped on top of them. Oh and some pot stickers dropped in there at some point. Yum! For our main entree, Liz and I split a Roasted Asparagus salad. This was really good. The sauce they used just fit so well with the grilled asparagus, and they had this fancy cracker with some fancy goat cheese on it. The 50 min wait to eat was worth it. Total bill including wine was about 60 bucks.
Their desert menu didn't really scream out to us. Creme brulee and passion fruit sounded interesting, but yanevno. So we went for the sure thing which was Stone Cold Creamery just round the corner. Liz got the usual Mudpie Mojo which is a blend of coffee ice cream, peanut butter, almonds, and fudge. I tried something new called All Love No Oven which is cake batter ice cream, cookie dough, fudge and whipped cream. Wow, that cookie dough was the best dough I've eaten in a long time. I remember working at TCBY in college and locking myself in the freezer living off cookie dough for days! Ok maybe it was only 30 seconds or so, but it was really nice. Oh to be able to stuff my mouth with cookie dough again, like they were simply vitamins.

A Clearing
I'm listening to my Steve Roach channel on www.pandora.com right now. Listening to an artist named Anugama. Not bad for a jungle-ish new age track.
(said like Homer Simpson) MMMMMMMMMMM Girl Scout Cookies gooooooooooood!!! Must refrain from devouring whole sections! Every year I order these things and then smack my head when I get them. Freekin Samoa!! No I will not eat more of you!!!
Here's a pic of me that my friend Rick took a looong time ago. We were in this industrial warehouse type area in Pensacola. Maybe it had just rained and there was some steam coming off the road. Maybe it was just a 1 megapixel camera artifact! lol Rick always had a good eye for turning the normal into something cool. We liked that it looked like I was standing on the sun and was begging for the latest Nike slogan.

I had some spicy California roll today, and I just might go see Alice In Wonderland this weekend. Jeez this whole post is just so random. So be it!
I will leave you with these two mirror images I did in photoshop. The original pics were taken in Mobile last year while I was with the PSN crew getting lost in crackville. (I am not allowed to share that acronym's meaning for fear of severe beating)The original pics were pretty much just dirt and garbage :)

Popsicles of Doom
(this post is kinda gross, just so ya know)
First off, when was the last time you were eating and you didn't pull your fork out of your mouth fast enough so that you bit down full force on this fork with your front teeth. Prolly never right? Well, don't, cuz it frakkin hurts! It's a pain that lingers like a tuning fork stuck in your gums up to your nostrils.
Did you know that only brown chickens lay brown eggs? I have slightly green eggs too from a local farmer. I wonder...
Anyway, today was actually pretty warm outside. Say mid 40s. So I went outside in my backyard with no jacket. Felt nice. However, my business in the backyard was not so pleasant. It's not the first time I've done it either, but never at this magnitude.
Owning a pet often has elements that come with it that are not so savory. I've never had a cat, but I know cats like to puke up mutant hairballs in interesting places and bring interesting dead stuff in your house. Dogs have any range of unpleasantries from leaving a poopie stain on that pillow you just happen to roll over on, or puking up something vile like a half digested panty or just stomach juice. Well owning a dog and a yard in a place that has snow has it's own secret horror waiting for dog owners.
We had a lot of snow this year. There has been snow in my backyard from about Dec. 14th. Today is the first day since that 80% of it has melted. That's about 80 days . My backyard is basically a big square about 25x 25 yrds. My dog prolly poops about 1 time a day, sometimes 2. The poop just gets frozen tho because of the snow and low temps. So today was clean up day.
The poop is not always solid. In fact, most of it has the consistency of water logged toast. I'm not squeamish about poo either. Never once did a dirty diaper gross me out. Well maybe that one back in 87 that was sitting outside in 90 degrees and was thrown at my face ( it missed!). I dump out some crazy funky poo from my daughter pretty much daily. So yah, I gots my poopie badge. But man, when you fill 3 target bags full of melting dog poo. It's pretty harsh! lol
Of course my daughter follows me round in the yard pointing to it and saying with such urgency, "Daddy theres another poop over here come get it!" My dog is just sitting there grinning at me. I think of Dug's voice from Up. "I did this for you master cuz I luuuve you!" Hmm I just got some poop on my hand. Mental note: wear industrial size gloves next time!
I was not alone in this venture either. My neighbor has a golden retriever. He wears a scarf. The wife was in the backyard pickin up poop too. Her husband came outside on the second story balcony and said, "haha Nooo he's your dog!"

Dey begin with i
I'm on a movie watching spree! I've managed to watch 2 movies in the last week. That's a lot of movies for me lately. They are Inglourious Basterds and Into The Wild.
I happened to catch some of Kill Bill 1 about a month ago and forgot just how much I liked that movie. Tarantino somehow manages to make this intense dialogue that just takes the norm and puts it at an angle that's almost poetic. Todd Solondz is also a director that does that but in a drop your jaw forbidden way. Anyway, I had no expectations about IB and frankly wasn't that eager to see it, but a friend lent me his copy. I'm very glad he did because I thought IB was fantastic.
Melanie Laurent was awesome. The whole scene with her at the restaurant, not much said, but so much was conveyed! And when Landa showed up..wow! Christoph Waltz was awesome too. I think he's up for an award. All of Tarantino's elements were there with his brassy soundtrack, chapters, and intense gore. I have yet to see The Hurt Locker, but I am looking forward to it to compare for my own. Avatar was fun, but I don't think it should get best picture.
Into The Wild is a lesser known movie directed by Sean Penn. It's basically about a college grad who upon graduating abandons the 'system' and moves out to Alaska in the wilderness. haha Sorry I had to stop and think of SNL's Andy Samberg singing " I threw it to the ground, not part of your system' for a sec. But yeah it's actually a common theme through the years. Jerimiah Johnson, Dances With Wolves, even Fight Club have these characters trying to escape humanity and civilization because they're sick of it. Into The Wild is based on a true story however.
I thought the movie was kinda dull at first, but as it continued I was really moved by the relationships that Chris or Alexander Supertramp ( love that name) made on his journeys. It's fascinating to me how one can free people from these huge issues in their life with brief interactions from a stranger. Somehow since they are outside your world, they sometimes can see things clearly and help you see outside yourself, which hopefully brings a sense of wonder and enlightenment. Bahhh who knows, but that's kinda what I got from this film. And of course the thing that he scribbles in his book at the end of the movie is pretty cool too. It's something everyone knows deep down I think.
This pic shows Emile Hersch leaving Hal Holbrook near the end of the film. That whole scene was just so emotionally intense for me!
